The Sultan Qaboos bin Said Arabic Language and Culture Scholarship
This scholarship fund was created by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman to provide scholarships to select and highly qualified Arabic majors. This award increases the scholarship portion of a student’s financial aid package as it replaces the Federal Loan that would otherwise have been part of their financial aid award.
The Qaboos Scholarship is also renewable. At the end of a student’s first year, the Standards Committee will review their academic performance. If they maintain a “B” average in the major, and continue to demonstrate financial need, the scholarship will be renewed for their second year. Furthermore, the scholarship can be extended throughout their four years at Georgetown, provided that they are able to maintain a “B” average in the major and continue to demonstrate financial need.
For the 2018-2019 Academic Year, incoming Arabic Majors who met the requirements of the scholarship were awarded $3,500 ($1,750 per semester).
Please visit the Office of Student Financial Services website for more information on loans, grants, and scholarships.
