‘The Square’ is an intimate observational documentary that tells the real story of the ongoing struggle of the Egyptian Revolution through the eyes of six very different protesters. Starting in the tents of Tahrir in the days leading up to the fall of Mubarak, we follow our characters on a life-changing journey through the euphoria of victory into the uncertainties and dangers of the current ‘transitional period’ under military rule, where everything they fought for is now under threat or imbalance.

لمّا شفتك – Annemarie Jacir

Jordan, 1967. The world is alive with change: brimming with reawakened energy, new styles, music, and infectious hope. In Jordan, a different kind of change is underway as tens of thousands of Palestinian refugees pour across the border in the wake of the 1967 war. Having been separated from his father in the chaos of war, Tarek, 11, and his mother Ghaydaa are amongst them. Placed in “temporary” refugee camps, they wait, like the generation before them who arrived in 1948. Struggling to adjust to life in Harir camp and longing to be reunited with his father, Tarek searches a way out, and discovers a new hope emerging with the times. Eventually his free spirit and curious nature lead him to a group of people on a journey that will change their lives.
