Dr. Sanders’ areas of interest include women in the Islamic world, classical Islamic culture, and The Crusades. In addition to Jewish Studies, Dr. Sanders is also a faculty affiliate of the Center for Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality and the Program in Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations. Her specialization places emphasis on Islamic history and culture (7th-15th centuries), History of architectural preservation in the Middle East, Jews in the lands of Islam, and Cairo Geniza.
