Graduate student Nicholas Mangialardi presents research in US and UK

AIS graduate student Nicholas Mangialardi presented research at two conferences this spring. 

In March, he presented “‘From the Street, for the Street, in the Street’: Egyptian Rap in the Mafshakha Cipher” at the University of Virginia, at the 35th Annual Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology.

In April, he presented a paper titled “Deciphering the Mafshakha Cipher” at the University of Westminster in London, UK at the conference Towards a Sociology of Popular Music in the Arab Region.
