Congratulations to Anny Gaul on receiving the 2018 BSA-Pinetree Foundation Fellowship in Culinary Bibliography

Graduate Student Anny Gaul has been awarded the 2018 BSA-Pinetree Foundation Fellowship in Culinary Bibliography from the Bibliographical Society of America. The fellowship will support Anny Gaul’s research specifically related to Arabic cookbooks in Egypt. While the Arabic manuscript tradition of cookbooks and European print cookbooks have been the focus of considerable academic attention, Arabic print cookbooks have only been the subject of passing references in a few studies. Her project would not merely fill lacunae in these histories; it would also offer new insights into the bibliographic history of Arabic print culture by focusing on an understudied popular genre.
