AIS at Georgetown University Roundtable on Language and Linguistics (GURT)

Two AIS graduate students presented at the 2015 Georgetown University Roundtable on Language and Linguistics (GURT) annual conference. This year’s conference was titled Diversity and Super-Diversity: Sociocultural Linguistic Perspectives. 

Nazir Harb presented “3 heights of focus on Egypt’s 2011 “sōwra” (‘Revolution’): a multimodal analysis of engroupment in Tahrir Square”, a paper discussing processes of constructing revolutionary identities in the Arab Spring and specifically interested in large protest formations as meta-systems. 

Francesco Sinatora delivered a paper titled “Hybridity on Syrian Facebook Pages”.
