Professor Ghayda Al Ali was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center as part of Heather Raffo (new window)‘s epic story about migration and the global economy, which is to be performed as a concert reading for the Kennedy Center’s River Run festival.

The play will be performed by five actresses, in addition to a member of the community selected to tell a story in their own language during the final scene of the play. The scripted dialogue of the play will be supported by two musicians, Lubana Al-Quntar, the premier opera singer of the Arab World, and Zafer Tawil, a masterful Palestinian oud player. Professor Al Ali was invited as the community member to tell the story to the audience in the final scene in her native Iraqi dialect. Congratulations, Professor Al Ali!
